Being mom and home manager is a lot easier here in Asia. You have your trusted helper (yaya) to assist you, in most cases, delegate the housework to. Life, in this case, IS a box of chocolates ;-)
But as we all know, life ain't always easy. Our helper is going on her annual leave for three weeks to be with her family, specially her two children. She has not seen them for two years and as a mom, I know how it is to be away from them. She only asked for two weeks (being the usual leave time) but what the heck! What harm would another week do to my household?
I grew-up blessed with a family who could afford an easier life in the Philippines, where helpers can number up to three plus drivers and a gardener---but my mom made sure we had ample training for life to become an independent individual. Life out of Asia became my battlefield and believe me, all those training learned from home were all worth it. I came out a survivor.
Now, it's my children's turn and it began yesterday.....*evil grin*

pero tama ka, iba talaga if you're trained at home. I proud to say that my parents trained me well too, if not I don't think I will be able to manage our household.
yeah...the earlier, the better talaga. although i haven't gone around into doing that with jeff. hehehe one of these days...pramis!

I should wean my boys from all the psp, ps2 and computer games this summer and start training them for real. They do the chores only when told. Haay.

Hi Justice! That'd be good training! :D I grew up with household help 24/7. There was always someone to pick up after me. Cut to being married and living on my own. No yaya! My home is a mess but at least I'm learning how to manage a household more responsibly. U.S.-living ang dating haha. Kaya naman eh. :D

haha my eldest had his training when we lived in NY and Germany. Though he's more slothy here in Asia, I am confident that he'll be fine on his own as well. He saw/sees me manage the house chores, so surely, it's a form of learning.

hi toni, oo kaya. it's just human to whine syempre. it's a non-stop learning and adjusting--keeps us out of a boring routine ;)
hay naku, kaya itong si Alexis eh walang "McGyver" instinct kasi eh lahat eh ako ang gumagawa para sa kanila. Tinuturuan ko din ng chores kahit papano, pero hindi pa rin maikukumpara sa "trinabaho" ko noong araw lol.
Yung friend kong Chinese na yaming sa atin, ang sabi eh hindi daw nila alam kung paano sila makaka-survive abroad na walang helper. Sows, sabi ko nga eh, "ako nga dito eh naging all-around tsimay hehe".

Well Queenie's summer classes just ended today. I hope I can train her with house work too.
naku ate marie, feel ko ang pagkabaldado mo! malaki na si queenie so for sure kahit sa simplest of housework, makakatulong siya.
